The Employee Assistance Plan is a confidential resource provided at no cost to employees enrolled in medical coverage. Through the plan, employees have access to in-person and online counseling, financial and legal assistance, resources for child and senior care, and more.
The Employee Assistance Plan is a valuable benefit provided at no cost to employees enrolled in the PPO, EPO, or HDHP medical coverage option. The Board of Pensions partners with Cigna to provide this confidential resource as part of our commitment to wholeness and well-being.
Through the Employee Assistance Plan, employees have access to in-person and online counseling, financial and legal assistance, resources for child and senior care, and more. Employers also have access to management consultation services.
The Employee Assistance Plan can help with a variety of personal concerns, from handling stress and anxiety, to dealing with disasters and other traumatic events, to achieving a better work/life balance. The plan offers phone, video-based, and in-person support; personalized assistance; and referrals to licensed counselors and professional resources.
Services available through the Employee Assistance Plan include the following:
Counseling: up to six face-to-face counseling sessions per issue with a credentialed network counselor
Behavioral telehealth: online conferencing as an alternative to a face-to-face visit (covers the same number of sessions as for face-to-face counseling, per issue per year)
Telephone consultation and support: immediate assistance with critical emotional needs as well as help with behavioral health-related questions, problem identification, problem-solving skills and approaches, and/or resources to address behavioral concerns
Legal assistance: a 30-minute telephone or face-to-face consultation with a participating attorney
Financial consultation: a 30-minute telephone consultation with a qualified specialist on issues such as debt counseling, retirement planning, tax planning, clergy tax issues, budgeting, and college funding
Tax assistance: a 25 percent discount on regular tax preparation services
Child care: resources and information about parenting and prenatal care; referrals to child care providers, before- and after-school programs, camps, and adoption organizations
Senior care: resources and referrals for home health agencies, assisted living facilities, social and recreational programs, and long-distance caregiving
Identity theft: a 60-minute consultation with a fraud resolution specialist
Disasters, violence, drug and alcohol addictions, depression, eating disorders, work/life balance: educational materials, webinars, and other resources for coping with such challenges
