Well-Being Retreat

Well-Being Retreat offers a unique opportunity to explore wholeness through a spiritual, health, financial, and vocational lens. Well-Being Retreat 2024 will be held Aug. 19-21 in Montreat, North Carolina.

Well-Being Retreat can help you become more deeply rooted in your life and ministry. This annual gathering is sponsored by the Board of Pensions, in partnership with the Presbyterian Foundation.

Who should attend

Active and retired members of the Benefits Plan of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) — including ministers, employees, spouses, and surviving spouses — are welcome.

For all participants, Well-Being Retreat offers time away from the usual routines to think, breathe, and renew. It is also an opportunity for ministers to recall and renew their CREDO vows and learnings.

Registration for Well-Being Retreat 2024 is full. A wait list is available.

Well-Being Retreat 2024

“‘Be still; and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations; I am exalted in the earth.’ The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”

Psalm 46:10-11 (NRSV)

Our lives are filled with swift transitions — ever-changing like the seasons — but gratefully, “for everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NRSV). The ebb and flow of seasons mirrors the rhythms of our lives, offering opportunities for growth, transformation, and rest. Yet the whirlwind of responsibilities, expectations, and commitments makes it difficult to slow down, embrace the gifts of each season, and tend to our well-being.

Selah represents a signal to pause for silence or a musical interlude. It is a cue to stop and then sing (louder), shout a word, clash cymbals, or fall prostrate. Selah: A Season of Reflection is a beckoning to pause, to breathe, and to listen. It represents more than a break. Whether we choose to sing with the revival of spring; shout with the excitement of summer; clash cymbals in the harvest of autumn; or fall prostrate in the surrender of winter, it is space to reflect on the beauty of our journey — where we’ve come from, where we are, and where we’re going.

This year’s retreat offers contemplative practices, enriching workshops, and soul-nourishing experiences to inspire you and promote balance in your life. Each encounter is curated to cultivate well-being through reflection and serenity, and to provide the sacred space to connect with the divine within and around us. You are invited into the stillness to release your burdens, refresh your spirit, renew your purpose, and refocus your perspective.

As the psalmist urges, “Be still, and know that I am God!” (Psalm 46:10 NRSV).

Workshop topics and presenters

Well-Being Retreat participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops intended to help them refocus, refresh, release, and renew. Workshop topics and presenters will be announced when the event registration website launches in mid-June.

Participants will also have the opportunity to worship and engage in daily prayer as part of the retreat and to take time to enjoy the beauty of Montreat.

“I learned that I need to slow down and be still. Listen more closely to hear God’s whispers of love, hope, encouragement, forgiveness, and grace.”
