Douglas P. Batezel and Christopher W. Jackson appointed Executive Vice Presidents

The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has announced two executive promotions as the agency continues to support the denomination’s Benefits Plan.

Senior Vice President Douglas P. Batezel has been named Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer, Information Technology. Christopher W. Jackson has assumed the role of Executive Vice President, Human Resources. These role advancements come as the agency continues to strengthen its operational effectiveness and deepen its commitment to workforce culture.

“Chris and Doug are outstanding leaders whose work is essential to the agency’s success, especially as we advance an ambitious strategic plan focused on our people and our technology transformation,” said the Reverend Dr. Frank Clark Spencer, President of the Board of Pensions.

Mr. Batezel joined the Board of Pensions as Vice President, Information Technology, in 2017 and has been an Executive Team member since 2024. Prior to his arrival, he spent 22 years at Independence Blue Cross in leadership roles in marketing and sales systems. Mr. Batezel earned a Bachelor of Arts from Temple University and a Master of Science from the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a certificate from the Business Engagement and the Information Security Professional program of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a Business Strategy and Leadership certificate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Jackson joined the Board of Pensions in 2024 as Senior Vice President, Human Resources. He came to the agency from United Way Worldwide, where he served as Chief People and Culture Officer. There, Mr. Jackson was responsible for oversight and delivery of strategies related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), people, and culture to ensure alignment with strategic goals for recruitment, retention, and succession planning, and executive management of the organization’s talent strategy. He also founded a human resources management consulting practice, where he advised clients including Fortune 500 executives. Mr. Jackson received both a Bachelor of Science in public affairs and a Master of Human Resources and Labor Relations from Michigan State University.
