Using your prescription drug benefits

You can access your prescription drug benefits by using your Express Scripts ID card to fill prescriptions at participating retail pharmacies or, for the greatest possible savings, by using Express Scripts Pharmacy home delivery service.

Use your local participating pharmacy to fill short-term prescriptions (up to a 30-day supply), and, if you choose, long-term prescriptions as well. Present your Express Scripts ID card to take advantage of reduced network rates.

To find participating pharmacies, register and log on to the Express Scripts website or call Express Scripts at 800-344-3896.

If you fill a prescription at an out-of-network pharmacy, you must pay the entire cost for the medication and then submit a claim to Express Scripts for reimbursement. Claim forms are available on the Express Scripts website.

Using mail order

You can get a 90-day supply of your medication through Express Scripts Pharmacy home delivery service for less than you would pay at a retail pharmacy. To use the mail-order service, do either of the following:

  • Have your doctor e-prescribe or fax the prescription to Express Scripts.
  • Ask your doctor to fax the prescription to Express Scripts.
  • Mail the written prescription(s) from your doctor along with the required copayment in the envelope provided with your welcome package from Express Scripts. Forms are also available at express-scripts.com.

Medications are shipped via standard service at no cost to you. Express shipping is also available for an additional fee. You can also set up auto refill and auto renewal of your prescriptions at the Express Scripts website.

Using the Express Scripts website

Manage your medications from anywhere with the Express Scripts mobile app.

  1. Open the iOS App Store on your iPhone or Google Play on your Android device.
  2. Search for Express Scripts and download the free app.
  3. Register or log in using the same username and password you created if you already registered via express-scripts.com.

You can use the Express Scripts website to

  • find participating retail pharmacies near you;
  • see how much certain medications will cost;
  • refill and renew home delivery prescriptions;
  • check order status;
  • receive timely medication alerts;
  • find available lower-cost medication options; and
  • ask questions of a pharmacist online.

You’ll need to register if it is your first visit; you will be asked to provide your member ID number (shown on your Express Scripts prescription ID card) and email address. Or, you may call Express Scripts at 800-344-3896.

You can use the Express Scripts mobile app to view your medications and set reminders for when to take them or to notify you when you are running low. You can also get personalized alerts, check for lower-cost prescription options available under your plan, and display a virtual member ID card that you can present at the pharmacy.
