The PPO, EPO, and HDHP cover medically necessary in- and outpatient care for behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment.
You are encouraged to contact your service provider before beginning treatment with a therapist, although you're not required to do so. Your service provider can help match you with a provider who has the appropriate background and experience to address your concerns.
To find network providers, call the Member Service number on the back of your medical ID card or use the provider search tool on your service provider's website.
Pre-certification is required* for some behavioral health and substance use disorder services. Learn more about which services require pre-certification.
You also are entitled to free counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which can be arranged by calling Cigna at 866-640-2772 or visiting the Cigna website. EAP services are not available to those enrolled in the Medicare Supplement Plan.
*Before claims for services without required pre-certification are considered for reimbursement, the plan's utilization review consultant determines the appropriateness and medical necessity for the services retroactively.
