Target date funds take the guesswork out of saving for retirement

October 10, 2019
Target date funds offer a convenient alternative for Retirement Savings Plan participants who prefer not to research, select, and monitor investments themselves.

When you participate in the Retirement Savings Plan of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), you can choose from a variety of investment options through Fidelity Investments that enable you to build a diverse portfolio and comfortably invest in funds that best meet your specific goals.

A single investment solution

If you’re looking for a solution that will simplify investing, Fidelity Freedom Index Funds (also called target date funds) offer an easy and convenient investment strategy that helps take the guesswork out of building and maintaining your retirement savings.

Each Freedom Index Fund includes a mix of stocks, bonds, and other investments, designed to help you grow your retirement savings during your earning years and help provide income and stability through your retirement years. It’s a single investment solution, managed by Fidelity, that offers diversified investments, automatically adjusted and rebalanced throughout your lifetime, that become more conservative as the target date approaches.

When you direct your Retirement Savings Plan contributions to a target date fund, you don’t need to select any other investments. Simply choose the fund that most closely matches the year you plan to retire. If, for example, you plan to retire in 20 years, you would select the Fidelity Freedom Index 2040 Fund.

New fund for early career investors

Just starting your career? The Fidelity Freedom Index 2065 Fund is now available. Whether you choose the target date fund, or select and manage your investments, take advantage of long-term savings and investing opportunities to build retirement savings.
