International SOS provides peace of mind for travelers abroad

June 03, 2019

ISOS provides medical advice, assistance, and referrals for travelers abroad, so help is just a phone call away should you need it.

More than 93 million U.S. citizens traveled internationally in 2018, with June, July, and August the busiest months. If you have medical coverage* through the Board of Pensions and your summer plans take you outside the United States — whether for vacation, to visit family, or as part of a mission trip — don’t forget to pack the International SOS reference card. The card includes a membership number to access services and contact information for ISOS assistance centers.

International SOS provides medical advice, assistance, and referrals for travelers abroad, so help is just a phone call away should you need it. There’s also a convenient mobile app, which provides medical and security information by country. To download the app, open the iOS app store or Google Play and search for International SOS Assistance App.

Assistance from ISOS includes

  • medical referrals worldwide to providers who meet ISOS’ high standards;
  • access to ISOS clinics (local fees may apply);
  • dispatch of medications and medical supplies; and
  • help with emergency medical evacuation.

You can also contact ISOS for advice if you lose important travel documents or for emergency translation services.

It all adds up to peace of mind so you can enjoy your trip. Just bring a copy of the ISOS reference card and relax.

*Those enrolled in Triple-S or GeoBlue should consult their plan for information about covered services while traveling internationally.
