Healthcare FSA comes with convenient debit card

February 26, 2019
When you have an eligible expense, just swipe your card to pay for it, and the amount is automatically deducted from your healthcare FSA balance.

If you participate in a healthcare flexible spending account (FSA) offered through the Board of Pensions, you’ll automatically receive a Visa debit card from Further, a leading national health savings and spending account administrator. Your debit card is loaded with the amount you elected to contribute to your healthcare FSA for the year (up to $2,700 for 2019).

You can use your card at doctor’s offices, pharmacies, hospitals, and other providers that accept Visa. When you have an eligible expense, just swipe your card to pay for it, and the amount is automatically deducted from your healthcare FSA balance.* If you don’t use your debit card at the time of service, it’s not too late — simply write your card number on the bill or call your healthcare provider’s office with the number.

*Save your receipts and explanation of benefits statements to verify your expenses. It’s required by the IRS, and, depending on the expense, Further may ask for documentation.
