Transition-to-College Assistance Grants

​This grant program is intended to help eligible families of freshmen entering college with transitional expenses, such as a computer purchase or dorm furnishings.

Who's eligible

One-time grants are available to qualifying Medical Plan members whose

  • employer is a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) or affiliated employer;
  • household's adjusted gross income does not exceed twice the current congregational ministers’ median; and
  • dependent child also is enrolled in the Medical Plan and is enrolled full time as a first-year freshman at an accredited college or university.

Amount

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you may receive a grant from $500 to $1,000, depending on your total household adjusted gross income, as follows. To qualify for a grant in 2019, your income must not exceed $118,200 (two times the 2019 congregational ministers' median effective salary of $59,100). In 2020, your income must not exceed $121,600 (two times the 2020 congregational ministers' median effective salary of $60,800).

How to apply

  • Grant applications for the 2019-2020 academic year will be accepted from August 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020.
  • Complete the Transition-to-College Assistance Grant Application and return it with the required documentation to the Board at the address listed on the form.
