Enrolling employees in the Retirement Savings Plan

Ready to enroll your employees in the Retirement Savings Plan of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)? Here are step-by-step instructions. ​

​Follow these steps to offer the Retirement Savings Plan to your employees and enroll them in the plan.

  • Adopt the Retirement Savings Plan. Your Employer Agreement automatically preselects Retirement Savings Plan participation for employees in Pastor's Participation; for employees in menu options, select Retirement Savings Plan for each applicable benefit group in your Employer Agreement. If you have not yet completed an Employer Agreement through Benefits Connect, our benefits administration portal, call the Board of Pensions at 800-773-7752 (800-PRESPLAN).
  • Encourage Retirement Savings Plan participation. Make your employees aware that you offer the Retirement Savings Plan and of the benefits of participating in the plan.
  • Collect completed forms. Collect a completed Salary Deferral Agreement and Fidelity Investments Enrollment Form from employees who want to enroll. Review for accuracy and give copies of completed forms to employees.
  • Send completed Fidelity enrollment forms to Fidelity. Keep the Salary Deferral Agreements for your files.
  • Initiate payroll process. Reduce or adjust employee pay as indicated on each completed Salary Deferral Agreement.
  • Start sending contributions to Fidelity. Follow the instructions in the Fidelity Simplified Contribution Platform (SCP) User Guide to remit Retirement Savings Plan contributions. The guide describes how to log in, select preferences, and set up bank account information.

Automatic enrollment/increase, available if your payroll system meets certain requirements, can help employees benefit from long-term retirement savings and increase the percentage of pay saved over time.
