Start saving more for retirement during America Saves Week

February 19, 2019
Take a positive step toward financial well-being during America Saves Week by checking your savings status and investment strategy.

Over half of all Americans may face a shortfall when it comes to covering essential retirement expenses, according to Fidelity Investments, record keeper for the Retirement Savings Plan of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (RSP). If you find yourself worrying about saving enough money for retirement, taking action now can make a difference in your retirement readiness down the road.

America Saves Week, a national celebration that encourages employees to save more, is the perfect time to take a step in the right direction. Take a few moments during America Saves Week, February 25–March 2, 2019, to check your savings status and investment strategy. When you do, you will not only take a positive step toward financial well-being, you can also earn Call to Health* points from February 25 through March 11.

  • If you participate in the RSP and have medical coverage through the Board of Pensions, you can earn 25 Call to Health points when you get an annual financial checkup and/or increase your RSP contribution by at least one percent. Fidelity’s power of small amounts interactive tool  can show you how a small increase in your contribution to the RSP can make an important difference.
  • Do you have medical coverage through the Board, but are not enrolled in the RSP? You can still earn 25 Call to Health points when you get a financial checkup — with a personal action plan for improving your financial wellness — from Fidelity. Then, if your employer offers the RSP, consider enrolling to improve your retirement readiness.

The RSP offers a convenient path to meet your retirement goals with

  • pre- and after-tax options;
  • low fees;
  • a wide range of investment options;
  • planning tools and resources; and
  • secure account access.

If your employer doesn’t offer the RSP, ask them to contact the Board of Pensions at 800-PRESPLAN (800-773-7752) for more information.

*Call to Health is available to employees and their spouses with medical coverage through the Board of Pensions; it is not available to members enrolled in Triple-S, GeoBlue, or the Medicare Supplement Plan.
