Four ways to help employees get ready for annual enrollment

September 09, 2019
Employers can help employees get ready to make changes to their coverage, or elect new coverage, during annual enrollment for 2020 benefits.

This year’s annual enrollment — October 28 through November 15 — is fast approaching. As an employer, you can help employees understand what they need to do, and when, to make sure they will have the benefits coverage they want for 2020.

Here are some ways to help employees get ready:

  1. Distribute and/or display the materials in the Annual Enrollment employer toolkit to increase awareness and to educate employees about the benefits you will offer in 2020.
  2. Encourage employees to log on to Benefits Connect to review the coverage they have now, and consider whether the same coverage will meet their needs next year.
  3. Let employees know that starting in October they will begin using multifactor authentication for added security when logging on to Benefits Connect. Employees who have not already done so will need to set up their security features when logging on to Benefits Connect during annual enrollment.
  4. Tell employees to watch their home mailbox, as well as their email inbox, for important communications about annual enrollment from the Board of Pensions.
