February is American Heart Month and National Cancer Prevention Month. One of the best preventive measures you can take against both heart disease and cancer is to see your doctor for an annual preventive exam.
February isn’t just for Valentines. It’s also American Heart Month, a reminder to be kind to your heart, and National Cancer Prevention Month, a time to learn about ways to prevent cancer.
One of the best preventive measures you can take against both heart disease and cancer is to see your doctor for an annual preventive exam. Your doctor can detect and address any underlying problems, such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol, even if you aren’t having any symptoms. He or she can also make recommendations for lifestyle, exercise, or diet changes to help you improve or maintain your health.
You can earn 400 Call to Health points when you have your preventive exam between November 17, 2018, and November 15, 2019.* To get your points, record your exam.
*Call to Health is available to employees and their spouses with medical coverage through the Board of Pensions; it is not available to members enrolled in Triple-S, GeoBlue, or the Medicare Supplement Plan. If you are under age 50, the time frame for having your preventive checkup is November 17, 2017, through November 15, 2019.
