Death and Disability Plan

The Death and Disability Plan is designed to

  • provide you with a source of income should you become totally disabled;
  • protect your eligible survivors from unexpected income loss in the event of your death.

Who's Eligible

Death benefits are available if you

  • are employed in eligible service for at least 20 hours a week or are certified disabled, and your employer is remitting dues for the coverage and those dues are current;
  • are under transitional participation coverage and remitting dues for the Death and Disability Plan, and those dues are current;
  • are terminated, have vested pension credits, and meet the Rule of 70; or
  • meet the Rule of 70 and receive a monthly retirement pension benefit.

Disability benefits are available if you

  • are employed in eligible service for at least 20 hours a week or are certified disabled, and your employer is remitting dues for the coverage and those dues are current; or
  • are under transitional participation coverage and remitting dues for the Death and Disability Plan, and those dues are current.
