Under the Traditional Program of the Medical Plan of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the Benefits Plan provides you and your eligible family members with the following core benefits:
Churches and other employing organizations pay for this coverage in full through the dues that they submit to the Board on behalf of the members enrolled in the plan. However, employers may, in some instances, ask a member to contribute toward the cost of medical dues if the member has Member + Family medical coverage.
In addition to these core benefits, the Benefits Plan offers optional programs that your church and employing organization may make available to you on a self-paid or partially self-paid basis.
All teaching elders serving in installed positions are enrolled in the Traditional Program by mandate of the Book of Order. Many other members, including lay members who work at least 20 hours a week in eligible church or church-related service, also are enrolled in this coverage, subject to employment classification rules.
Eligible family members include
- covered partners;
- children younger than 26, regardless of their financial dependency, marital or qualified domestic partnership status, or residency; and
- dependent, totally disabled children who are covered under the plan before they reach age 26.
