Help Employees Make the Most of the RSP

An important part of the 2017 Benefits Plan is participation in the Retirement Savings Plan of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (RSP). For a refresher on RSP features and advantages for employees, review these resources on pensions.org:

Employers with questions about the RSP may call the Board at 800-773-7752 (800-PRESPLAN) or Fidelity’s treasurer and administrator assistance line at 800-917-4369.

First Benefits Connections Scheduled March 28

The Board of Pensions has scheduled 10 Benefits Connections gatherings this spring throughout the country, with the first March 28 in Pittsburgh. The one-day seminar is designed for those who make benefits decisions, such as business administrators, clerks of session, and members of Committees on Ministry. Board leadership and staff will discuss the theological values that shape the Benefits Plan and provide time for questions. Read more on pensions.org. Benefits Connections and the Mid Council Leaders Gathering — scheduled in October in St. Louis in collaboration with the Office of the General Assembly — will foster denominational collaboration. Read more about the mid council gathering on pensions.org.

Pension Plan Experience Apportionment Effective July 1

As reported in the Spring 2017 Board Bulletin, a 2 percent experience apportionment for the Pension Plan is effective July 1. An experience apportionment is a lifelong increase in pension benefits for retirees and eligible survivors and an increase in accrued pension credits for active and terminated vested members.

As of December 31, 2016, the plan’s funded status was 123.7 percent, which the Board attributed to strong plan management and favorable investment performance. To learn more about the experience apportionment process, read more about the experience apportionment on pensions.org.
