Shelly Marshall, Director of Human Resources at Providence House, in Shreveport, Louisiana, is excited about Call to Health, and it shows.
"The financial incentives are great," Shelly said. "Who wouldn't want to get the lower deductible and an Amazon gift card? But I like that it encourages total wellness and helps me be a well-rounded person." Shelly has served as an example to encourage employees to embrace Call to Health* — and in less than six months, Providence House has more than 60 percent employee participation.
Providence House, which joined the Benefits Plan in December 2017, had never offered an employee well-being incentive before. "At first, I was a little intimidated," Shelly said, "but after I played around on the site, I saw how simple it was."
Shelly showed employees how to register on calltohealth.org and navigate the site. Once you see it for yourself, she said, you think, "Wow, there are simple things I can do, like getting up and stretching, that gave me life and energy. And it's so easy!"
Shelly got the word out about Call to Health at quarterly staff meetings and provided handouts to employees. She also created several local challenges, which she credits with helping to boost participation:
- an April Call to Health registration challenge (50 points)
- two weeklong flash challenges to enroll in (75 points) or increase contributions to (50 points) retirement savings
"I love the fact that I can pick up the phone when I have an idea and there are people [at the Board] I can talk to who can help me make it happen," Shelly said.
Shelly is happy about how employees have engaged with Call to Health — almost 20 percent have reached Level 1 (1,000 points, including required challenges) to date. But she knows there's more work to be done. Next on her list is to complete Ignite Your Life coaching programs. Once she has, it's a sure bet she'll be spreading the word.
