New Benefits Connect Features Are Here!

4/4/2017

The Board of Pensions is excited to announce enhancements to Benefits Connect that make it easy, fast, and convenient for employers, members, retirees, and survivors to access benefits, update information, and more!

Employers

Log on to Benefits Connect, and choose Manage Employees to do the following:

  • Enroll Members
Choose Enroll New Employee (in the Add Employees box), or click the New Hire icon in Quick Links, and follow the prompts to provide employee contact, service, and salary information. Once an enrollment is processed, the employee will receive an email letting him or her know to register for Benefits Connect and elect benefits.

  • Confirm or Change Member Salary
Select the member’s name, choose Confirm Salary or Change Salary, and follow the prompts to provide up-to-date information for accurate billing and benefits calculation. If the member’s salary has been changed or confirmed in the current year, Confirm Salary will not be available.

  • Terminate Employment
Select the member’s name, and choose Termination of Employment under Service to report a member’s termination of employment.

Members

Log on to Benefits Connect to do the following:

  • Update Contact Information
From your Benefits Connect home page, choose About Me, then My Contact Information, and use the pen symbol in Personal Information to change name only, or Address and/or Phone & Email to update contact information.

  • Enroll for Benefits
If you are a new employee, you will receive an email with instructions to register for Benefits Connect. On the welcome page, choose Member Enrollment and follow the prompts to elect benefits from selections your employer has made available.

  • Report a Qualifying Life Event
A qualifying life event, such as marriage or the birth of a child, is the only time during the year (other than annual enrollment) you can change and/or elect benefits. Choose About Me on the home page, select Life Events, and follow the prompts to report a qualifying life event, provide supporting documentation, and add eligible dependents (if applicable). You will receive an email, letting you know that you may return to Benefits Connect to change/elect benefits as a result of the life event.

  • Add/Change Beneficiaries (members with death benefits coverage)
From your Benefits Connect home page, choose My Benefits, then Death. Use the pen symbol to edit information on existing beneficiaries and click on the Add/Allocate Beneficiaries button to add new beneficiaries or change allocations.
