Cigna, which administers the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for Benefits Plan members and others in their households, is providing free crisis phone consultations with its licensed clinicians for all victims of Hurricane Harvey in the Texas Gulf Coast region.
This offer of free assistance runs through October 15, 2017. To access assistance, individuals should call 866-912-1687, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The offer is open to anyone in the region, whether enrolled in Cigna coverage or not; they need not even be employed.
Benefits Plan members should continue to call the Board of Pensions dedicated number for Cigna — 866-640-2772.
“During times of uncertainty and change, whether responding to a hurricane, returning to work after evacuation, or dealing with any traumatic event, it is especially important to focus on taking good care of ourselves,” Cigna stated in announcing the assistance.
The Cigna website (https://apps.cignabehavioral.com/web/) also provides resources for physical, mental, and emotional self-care during turbulent times that are accessible to the public, no login required. The headings Benefits Managers and Members enable visitors to find information on the site that most closely matches their needs. Included is a Disaster Resource Center, with links to state emergency resources, including the Texas Emergency Preparedness portal.
